He knew that passing the exam was just the beginning, and the real challenge was finding clients.

He searched for lead sources that were low cost but required a lot of effort, or what he called "high sweat equity." Albert knew he was ready to put in the hard work, but he didn’t want to spend a fortune on leads.

He needed results quickly—after all, real estate is a 100% commission business! That’s why Albert started by calling FSBO (For Sale By Owner) leads and expired listings, which he saw as the low-hanging fruit. This strategy helped him get off to a strong start!

The Hardest Thing You Can Do

Next, Albert dove into calling FSBO and expired leads—and he was shocked. It wasn’t nearly as easy as all the top producers made it seem.

In fact, he said it was the hardest thing he had ever done. The constant rejection was tough, and there were times when he felt like quitting and just buying leads.

But Albert made a promise to himself that he wouldn’t give up on prospecting. He didn’t want to rely on online leads; he wanted to build real, solid sales skills.

So, despite the challenges, he stayed committed, knowing that mastering this tough part of the business would make him a stronger agent in the long run.

Door Knocking Vs Cold Calling

Albert also tried door knocking as part of his business plan, but quickly realized it wasn’t for him.

Spending three hours to make just a few real contacts didn’t feel like a good use of his time. He knew he needed a more efficient way to reach people.

That’s when he turned to phone prospecting, and it made a huge difference. He found way more success on the phones, where he could connect with more potential clients in less time. This helped him focus on what worked best for him and his business.
